Rutherford - Local, state and county police were out in force looking for a man who allegedly robbed the Wells Fargo Bank at the corner of Park Avenue and Glen Road in Rutherford a little before noon today, March 10. The man was described as a white male, thin, about 40-44 years in age and around five-foot three-inches tall with brown hair, brown eyes, crooked teeth and scruffy facial hair. He was wearing a dirty beige cap with an unknown emblem on it, a grey hooded-sweatshirt and blue jeans.
Police are looking for this man who reportedly robbed the Wells Fargo bank at noon, March 10.
The man approached one of the tellers and announced a robbery before making off on foot with an undisclosed amount of money although an earlier report was that the amount was $2,000. It is unknown whether the man was armed, according to Rutherford Police Lieutenant Patrick Feliciano, but no one in the bank was injured. The man was last seen heading south towards the intersection of Sylvan Street and Spring Dell.
Two New Jersey State Police officers assisted Rutherford police in canvassing the nearby area along Orient Way, Ridge Road, Park Avenue, Ettrick Terrace and Spring Dell. The Sheriff's Department Bureau of Criminal Identification and the Bergen County Police Canine Unit also responded, but the search, which went on for about 45 minutes, according to Feliciano, was unsuccessful.
