A 22-year-old city man was shot in the arm during a robbery in the Chambersburg section early today, police said.
The man was near the corner of Elmer Street and Chestnut Avenue when he was approached by two men wearing masks. The victim later told police that one of the men had a handgun and the other a knife, Lt. Steve Varn said.
The masked men demanded money and then assaulted the victim. In the struggle, the man was shot, Varn said.
After the shooting the two men stole $300 in cash from the victim and fled, Varn said The victim went to St. Francis Medical Center and hospital staff called police just before 12:45 a.m. The man’s wound was not believed to be life-threatening, Varn said.
