THREE teenagers have been arrested and another two remain at large after the group allegedly bashed a 60-year-old woman unconscious and beat up her 64-year-old husband in a robbery in a village store north of Kyogle.
Richmond Local Area Command crime manager, Detective Inspector Greg Moore said the 17-year-old from Woodburn and two 15-year-old males from Casino were arrested at Tabulam this afternoon.
It is alleged they were three of five teenagers who turned up at the general store in the small village of Wiangaree, on the Summerland Way, about 3pm yesterday afternoon armed with a knife and a broomstick.
The group then allegedly attacked the owners of the store - and man and his wife, breaking the one of the man's fingers, knocking out his wife and leaving both with cuts and abrasions, before ransacking the store.
Police said they stole cash and alcohol before fleeing the scene in a stolen car.
Police tracked the car to Bonalbo, but the five men fled into the bush, taking the cash with them and abandoning the alcohol.
Police brought in the dog squad to track the men, but were unable to find them because of the poor weather conditions.
The owners of the store were taken by ambulance to Lismore Base Hospital for treatment and later released.
Insp Moore called for anyone with information on the robbery or about the robbers to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
