Armed robbery leads to arrest, second suspect wanted

Chippewa Falls (Chippewa Falls Police Department News Release) - On May 6, 2011 at 22:28 hrs the Chippewa Falls Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery at Kentucky Fried Chicken located at 1017 Woodward Ave in the City of Chippewa Falls. Responding officers found that two subjects dressed in black and wearing masks had forced their way into the rear door of the restaurant. Both subjects were armed, one with a shotgun and one with a handgun. Once inside the restaurant the suspects confronted the employees and demanded money. Victims indicate that during the confrontation one suspect actually put the handgun to the head of one of the victims. At some point an employee was able to attempt calling 911 and the suspects fled the restaurant, without taking any money. During the course of the investigation officers were able to identify one suspect as being Joseph R. Perry. Officers responded to Perry's residence and subsequently Perry was taken into custody. Both weapons used in the crime have been recovered.

Perry is being held in the Chippewa County Jail pending formal charges related to this incident. Police are still searching for the second individual in this crime. He is believed to be a male in his late teens or early 20's.

The Chippewa Falls Police Department has been assisted in this investigation by officers of the Village of Lake Hallie Police Department, the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

This incident remains under investigation.
